David is a proud University of Illinois alumnus who went on to graduate with Honors from John Marshall Law School in 2003, where he made the Dean’s list every semester and served as an editor for the Journal of Information Technology and Privacy. He earned his 711 license as a third-year law student, which he used to cut his teeth in the courtroom while interning with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office.
After graduating near the top of his class, David pivoted to the private sector and accepted an associate attorney position at a premiere insurance defense law firm in Chicago, where he made a partner eight years later, making him the youngest partner in firm history. David went on to develop an impressive book of business for the firm, originating several personal and commercial line carriers that remain staples of the firm’s client base even to this date.
David is a seasoned and experienced trial lawyer with approximately 20 verdicts under his belt, and impressive results to boot. He specializes in transportation and premises liability, and intentional tort litigation. Over the course of his career, David lectured on trial advocacy topics across the Midwest in various continuing legal education forums. He is licensed to practice in Illinois and is a member of the Federal Trial Bar, Northern District of Illinois. In addition to his trial success, David has deposed thousands of witnesses, arbitrated and mediated over a hundred cases, and settled countless more on behalf of a wide variety of clients.
From 2011 through 2017, David was selected as a Rising Star through the prestigious Super Lawyers publication, and then in 2024, he made the Super Lawyers list based on peer recognition and legal achievement, an honor bestowed upon the top 5% of lawyers in the State.
Having surpassed his career goals as a civil defense lawyer, after 20 years with the same firm, David was eager for a new challenge and decided it was time to join Duncan Law Group as a plaintiff’s lawyer. In addition to his trial experience and advocacy skills, David brings a unique perspective to DLG, having spent two decades partnering with major insurance companies, including claims executives and corporate legal counsel. This insight into how insurance companies analyze, value, and resolve claims, including what drives their decision-making process, will prove invaluable going forward.
On a personal level, David grew up in Rome, Italy where he stumbled into a child-acting career that saw him land lead and supporting roles alongside the likes of Sophia Loren, Omar Sharif, John Turturro, and Rutger Hauer. Although his acting career was relatively short-lived, David developed a stage presence that continues to serve him well in the courtroom. David married his high school sweetheart and together they are raising three wonderful (and mischievous) children in the western suburbs of Chicago! Most of his free time is spent at soccer games or theatre performances, but David is an avid sports fan and carves out time for golf, platform tennis and, of course, date nights.
